Day 01 : Arrive Delhi |
| Meeting and assistance on arrival and
transfer to your hotel. Overnight at hotel. |
Day 02 : Delhi |
| Full day sightseeing of Old and New Delhi.

Day
01 : Delhi- Leh - ht. 3445m |
| Transfer to the airport to board your
flight for Leh. You are met on arrival and transferred to your
hotel. While the town has come a long way from the days when
polo was played on its main street, Leh still retains a pleasant
traditional quality. Rest of the day to rest and for high altitude
acclimatization. In the evening stroll through the main street
of the town is more than enough exercise to begin with. Overnight
at hotel. |
Day
02 : Leh – Shey, Hemis & Thiksey |
| After breakfast sightseeing
to the massive Tibetan Buddhist Gompas of Hemis, Shey
and Thiksey. A few kilometers up the Indus is Shey, the
most ancient capital, with its palaces and temples, their
vibrantly coloured mirals cleaned and resorted in the
mid 1980’s. Hemis, which was founded under the direct
patronage of members of the ruling Namgyal Dyansty. In
the evening return back to your accommodation for overnight
stay. |

03 : Leh – Likir |
| Morning depart by surface for Likir. En
route to Phyang monastery. Afternoon visit Likir monastery.
On arrival check in at tents. |
Day
04 : Likir-Yangtang -5-6 hrs - trek |
| Follow a road suitable for motor traffic
but unused. Take a short cut across the river, which comes form,
the Gompa. Take a good path then enter arid terrain. Gradual
climb two small passes the Pobe-La. From the pass, you go to
the village of Sumdo (2-½ hrs) taking short cuts or the
trail. Cross the river (bridge), leave the village on the right
and side. Carry on through small, dry valleys for about 45 minutes
until reaching the summit of the Charatse - la. From the pass
you rise in Yangtang in 20 minutes. |
Day
05 : Yangtang – Rizong – Ang- trek |
| Trek for about 2-3 hrs for Rizong
monastery. Spend some time visiting the monastery. Go
down for about 10 minutes to the valley of Wulle. Good
bridge across the river. Then climb for 50 minutes to
the Sermanchan-la before making an easy descent towards
Hemis-Shukpachen, a major village, the name of which comes
from the conifers (shukpa=cedar) which are found in this
valley. Beautiful gompa. Cross the village to go onto
a village a kind of flat as far as an ill defined pass.
Steep descent, then go across the mountain side (right
hand side) and climb a rather a steep slope to the summit
of the Mepek-la (2 hrs from Hemis-Shukpachan). Easy half-hour
descent towards the village Ang. Overnight in tents. |

Day
06 : Ang-Tingsmogang-Khalse - trek |
| From Ang, head towards the south, go to
the major village of Tingsmogang (30 minutes). Perhaps the richest
valley in Ladakh. A road suitable for motor traffic links Tingsmogang
and Nurla. From Tingsmogang follow the path leading to Tea.
Constant succession of fields and houses. Above tea, a very
little known monastery: Katza. Cross-fields to the river (west)
then steep climb to the Bongbong-la (about one hour Timgsmogang.)
A long gentle slopping descent into a beautiful barren landscape.
From a small pass, steep but sharp descent the road. From there
allow a bit more a bit more than one hour to Khalse. Overnight
in tents. |
Day
07 : Khalse-Lamayuru - drive |
| After breakfast drive
for Lamayuru. Visit Lamayuru monastery. Overnight in tents. |

Day
08 : Lamayuru-Urshi -6-7 hrs- trek |
| From the Lamayuru monastery
go down towards the village, cross the stream, then gradually
climb across a mountain side, reach a small valley which
you follow as far as the Prinkiti –la. (3720mts.)
go down into a narrow gauge until reaching the village
of Shilla. Cross a river over the bridge, then take the
Right Bank as far as Wanla. Go along the Yapola on the
left bank for another 2 hrs until reaching the village
of Phenjilla after crossing the river (bridge). From Phenjilla
, go up a valley, which goes off at right angles (northeast).
After one hour leave the main valley and go straight north
along a stream, which leads to Urshi. Overnight in tents.

Day
09 : Urshi – Tar-la – 5 hrs- trek |
| From the camp the path is well marked
but difficult until Tar-la (5250 mtrs –5 hrs.) After 3
hrs of descent, you arrive at the village of Tar. |
Day
10 : Tar-Mang Gyu -4-5 hrs- trek |
| From the village of Tar, the path goes
up along the mountainside to a new pass, then easy descent towards
Mang Gyu. Attractive villages and interesting monastery. Overnight
in tents at Mang Gyu. |
Day
11 : Mang Gyu-Alchi- trek |
| From Mang Gyu very
good path into a beautiful narrow valley. After 2 hrs,
you reach the Indus valley at the village of Gera. Follow
the Indus river up stream, pass Lardo (3 hrs), continue
along the hillside until reaching the road , half hour
before Alchi. The monastery here contains the most beautiful
wall paintings in Ladakh. At Alchi you reach the motor
road. Overnight at Resort. |

12 : Alchi–Leh - 65kms approx. 4hrs - by surface |
| After breakfast drive for Leh. Overnight
at hotel |

Day
13 : Leh-Delhi - by air |
| In time transfer to the airport to board
your flight for Delhi. You are met on arrival and transferred
to your hotel for overnight stay. |

14 : Leave Delhi |
| In time transfer to airport
to connect flight back home. |
