Delhi Golf Club is perhaps the only Golf Club in the world dotted with the monuments of great historic and archeological value. This course was originally called the 'Lodhi Golf Course'. In the 1930's the British ordered their Chief of the Horticulture Department to design a course amongst the picturesque surroundings of the Tombs of the Lodhi Dynasty of Delhi which date back to the 15th century. The character of the course lies in the rich fauna and flora that it has on either side of the fairways thereby giving prime importance to accuracy in the game. It has two courses now viz. The Main course, known as the 'LODHI COURSE' and a short Course which has been christened as 'THE PEACOCK COURSE'. Beside this the club has every facility of bar & catering, a swimming pool and recently a new pub and a health club has been added to provide more facilities to the members.

History of the course
Founded in 1908 by the British during the IInd world war. British and their troops were using this course. The golf course is close to the Taj Mahal. In earlier days some of the holes were very near to the historical monument and the course was of 18 holes. However it is now a 9 hole course with 18 tees. From some of the points, the Taj Mahal is also visible.
Description of the fairways/rough/trees:
The golf course is now under reconstruction. The fairways are quite narrow, as thousands of trees have been planted some years ago. To save the trees the ball has to be picked up and dropped in the fairway if the ball lands in the trees. A new sprinkler system has recently installed and the fairways should be grassy and green after some months. Being a fairly easy golf course, the fairways have been demarcated by boundary markers. If a
ball lands outside the fairways markers it is considered the wrong fairway and the player loses a stroke. Preferred lies are permitted throughout the year in the fairway only. A ball lying anywhere else is played as it lies.
Two toughest holes
1. The toughest hole is the 4th hole. The approach to the green is difficult after a drive into the narrow fairway. There is a bunker on the right side of the green and a tree on the left guards a narrow approach to the green.
2. The 3rd hole is another tough hole measuring 400 yards. There are trees guarding both sides of the approach to the green.
Easiest hole
1. The easiest hole to par is the 6th hole. There is a lateral water hazard running along the right side. A mis-hit tee shot can make things difficult.

Description of the Greens
The Classic Golf Resort has large greens that have grass brought in from Thailand. They are sand based and it takes a well-struck golf shot to make the ball hold and spin on these greens. The speed of these greens is usually between 8 - 9 on the stimp meter but they can be made much faster which is usually done during the Professional tournaments that are held here. They are slopy and have slight grain on them which makes line reading a tough job.

Description of the fairways/rough/trees
The fairways at classic are a golfers delight and you get even lies throughout the course. they are reasonably wide and appear more so as the trees around them have been recently planted and have not grown yet. The rough is usually not very high but during big tournaments it is left to grow and poses a problem to many a golfer. The classic is characterized by the placing of fairway bunkers at strategic places and these are what a player should be looking to avoid.
